Melanie received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Clinical Research from Liberty University in 2012, and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling with a certificate in Trauma Counseling in May 2016. Melanie is also a Certified Trauma Treatment Specialist and certified Field Traumatologist through the Green Cross. What brought her into the field was a cross cultural experience in Paris, France when she was fulfilling her internship requirement in 2013. Since then she has developed her focus on treating individuals with various trauma related issues.
She is trained in level 1 and level 2 in EMDR, but also uses techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), mindfulness, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Her experience includes treating children, couples, adolescents, and adults as well as the Spanish speaking population. She uses these different approaches to therapy to help individuals process through various life circumstances that include anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, sexual abuse, domestic violence, marital/relational, PTSD, grief and loss, and personality disorders. Melanie also has experience in psychological testing with mental health and personality disorders, as well as intelligence testing.
She is passionate about equipping individuals with the confidence and self-esteem they need to face life’s challenges. It isn’t always easy to walk through counseling doors, but Melanie enjoys facilitating a safe environment where you can have the courage to take the next step. Everyone’s story is unique and different from another, but through the skills, techniques, and tools she will help provide the avenue for healing.
When she is not counseling Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband, son, dancing, and yoga.
