Kyle R. Keller is a psychotherapist with more than 12 years of experience in the mental health field.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Regent University.
Kyle is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Virginia, with a variety of clinical experience, working with individuals who have simple/complex trauma, anxiety disorders, depression, bi-polar disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and ADHD. He has worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Kyle has worked in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings.
Kyle has had 50 hours of EMDRIA approved training in EMDR therapy. He utilizes EMDR as his primary treatment modality at Waves Psychotherapy, but also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems therapy, Collin-Ross Trauma Model, and psychodynamic modalities. Kyle is most interested in PTSD and other trauma disorders, family systems issues, and other issues related to attachment in childhood.
He enjoys working with children, adolescents, couples, families, and groups.
In addition to clinical work, Kyle worked in South Korea, teaching English as a second language in a private language academy for children, ages 4-12. Living as a foreigner overseas has enriched his understanding of the world and made him more culturally sensitive. He has lived in four states and two foreign countries, and has a natural love for geography, history, and Earth science.
